TATTOO AFTERCARE

PROTECT YOUR ART. TRUST THE PROCESS.

TRADITIONAL BANDAGE

FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS IF YOUR ARTIST APPLIED A STANDARD, NON-ADHESIVE BANDAGE.

01 — REMOVE YOUR BANDAGE
Follow your artist's instructions. For the traditional bandage protocol used at Bonedaddys Tattoo, remove your bandage after approximately two hours.
02 — WASH YOUR TATTOO
Wash your hands first. Gently clean your tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.

Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the tattoo while cleaning.

03 — DRY GENTLY
Gently pat the tattoo dry using a clean paper towel.

Never rub back and forth.

04 — MOISTURIZE LIGHTLY
Apply a very thin layer of After Inked or a gentle, fragrance-free lotion as recommended by your artist.

Avoid applying excessive amounts of lotion or ointment.

05 — CONTINUE DAILY CARE
Gently wash your tattoo two to three times daily, following your artist's instructions.

Reapply a small amount of fragrance-free moisturizer as needed.

SECOND SKIN

SANIDERM & RECOVERY DERM SHIELD

01 — HOW LONG SHOULD I KEEP IT ON?
Follow the specific instructions provided by your tattoo artist.

Saniderm and Recovery Derm Shield may have different application and wear-time instructions. Do not use the two-hour traditional bandage removal schedule.

02 — IS FLUID UNDER THE FILM NORMAL?
A buildup of clear fluid, plasma, or excess ink beneath the adhesive film can occur during early healing.

If the bandage leaks, loses its seal, or exposes the tattoo, contact your artist for guidance.

03 — HOW DO I REMOVE SECOND SKIN?
Follow your artist's instructions and the specific product's removal directions.

Removal is generally easier under warm running water. Gently stretch the film back over itself, close to the skin, rather than pulling it straight upward.

Stop if removal causes significant pain or skin damage, and seek appropriate advice.

04 — WHAT IF MY SKIN REACTS?
Adhesive films can sometimes cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.

If you develop significant itching, burning, blistering, or irritation, discontinue the adhesive and seek appropriate medical advice.

Contact your artist for guidance on continuing traditional aftercare once the film is removed.

GENERAL HEALING CARE

KEEP YOUR TATTOO CLEAN, PROTECTED, AND FREE FROM UNNECESSARY IRRITATION.

DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH
Never pick scabs or pull away peeling skin. This can damage healing tissue and affect your tattoo's appearance.
AVOID SWIMMING & SOAKING
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, and other soaking until your tattoo has fully healed.

Healing time varies, and two weeks is not a guarantee that a tattoo is ready to be submerged.

WEAR LOOSE CLOTHING
Whenever possible, wear clean, loose-fitting clothing that does not rub against the healing tattoo.
PROTECT YOUR TATTOO FROM SUNLIGHT
Avoid direct sunlight and tanning while your tattoo heals.

Once fully healed, use broad-spectrum sunscreen to help protect your tattoo's appearance.

WATCH FOR SIGNS OF INFECTION
Some redness and tenderness can occur after tattooing.

Spreading redness, worsening pain, increasing swelling, pus, fever, or red streaking require prompt medical evaluation.

Do not wait for a response from the tattoo shop if you suspect an infection.
